I'm pretty excited about the prospects in the Euro B tournament!!! I saw some rosters posted from eurobasket.com that seem to indicate that Ruben Prey (St. John's) and Roberts Blums (Davidson) won't be playing for Portugal and Latvia respectively, which is a bummer. I wonder if Aleksandar Gavalyugov (Villanova) will play for Bulgaria? That would be fun.
Also, if Mihail Ruzic plays for Croatia, that would be sick. I think Mirkovic and Ruzic would be EXCELLENT headliners for the U20B tournament.
Yeah FIBA used to be earlier, but now I think they wait before all photoshoots are done. I had a whole section on Bogoljub Marković just to learn via a friend of mine that he wasn't playing. That was a bummer.
Of all NCAA-bound guards in this tournament, I think Gavalyugov is going to impact the most once they arrive stateside. Villanova got themselves a stud. I wrote a piece on Ruzic this past cycle, and love his talent - assuming you mean the Joventut one.
I think some players with already good reputations won't risk their offseason training to be ready for their teams immediately.
